Jazz

A dance form or dance that is matched to the rhythms and techniques of jazz music.

Hip Hop

Street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970's and made popular by dance crews in the United States.

Salsa

Focuses mainly of the sounds of the conga and the clave in salsa. Some other salsa centers like Puerto Rico also dance on 2, but there the basic step for the lead is with the left foot stepping forward on 2(second beat), where as in New York the lead steps back on2. 

Ballet

An artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures.

Tap

A dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.
